The Kansas City Chiefs they want to build a roster worthy of advancing to the Super Bowl in the 2023 NFL season, and the latest addition fills one of the holes they couldn’t fill in the Draft.

The AFC West team announced the signing of offensive tackle Donovan Smith, who spent the last three years protecting Tom Brady’s blind side, in order to have him watch Patrick Mahomes’s back.

According to the report of The Athletic, the 29-year-old veteran signed a one-year contract worth four million dollars. The pact includes multiple incentives that could scale the contract to nine million.

With his addition, the offensive line for 2023 will consist of him on the left side, followed by Joe thuneybelieve humphreytrey Smith and Jawaan Taylorwho arrived in free agency from Jacksonville.

Smith’s Durability

Durability is one of the constants in Smith’s NFL career. The Penn State graduate started 131 of the 137 games he played and last year he played in 13 games despite an elbow injury.

Smith came to the NFL as a second-round pick Draft of 2015. On that occasion, he was the fourth offensive tackle selected, only from behind Ereck Flowersfor the New York Giants; Cedric Ogbuehi, for the Cincinnati Bengals; and DJ Humphries, for the Arizona Cardinals. Of all of them, he is the player with the most games played.
