Doncic Targets Paris Olympics

Doncic's plan to go to the Paris Games

As the summer of basketball approaches, all eyes are on Luka Doncic, the Slovenian star who is generating a lot of questions about his plans for the upcoming Olympics. After losing the NBA final to the Boston Celtics, Doncic immediately traveled to Slovenia to join his team, which is already training.

Despite still being early in his rehabilitation process, Doncic is determined to fight through pain and physical problems to secure Olympic qualification and avenge the bronze medal he won in Tokyo 2021. According to sources from Slovenia, Doncic will undergo a medical examination before participating in the qualification tournament in the Athens Pavilion of Peace and Friendship.

In the tournament, Slovenia will face New Zealand and Croatia in the first phase, and a potential showdown between Doncic and two-time NBA MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo, leading host Greece, could be on the horizon.

Doncic’s plan is already laid out, and he is committed to following the steps to make it happen. After a historic season that saw him join an elite group of players, including LeBron James, Larry Bird, and Nikola Jokic, Doncic’s teammates and fans alike are eagerly awaiting his return.

In fact, Dallas Mavericks general director Nico Harrison recently declared, “As long as Doncic can walk, he will play for Slovenia,” further fueling the excitement around the upcoming tournament. With the nationalization of Josh Nebo, one of the best springs in the Euroleague, Slovenia is building a strong team to support Doncic’s efforts.
