Trump Superhero Cards
The collection, launched on the Polygon (MATIC) blockchain, consists of 45 thousand non fungible tokens (NFT) that can be purchased with ethereum (ETH) or fiat currency. The NFT collection is inspired by the popular baseball collectible cards. In Trump’s collection, all NFTs are pictures of himself in various superhero outfits.
In addition to being a collectible item, each NFT also acts as a lottery ticket of sorts. There are interesting prizes to be won for owners of copies of Tump’s NFT collection. For example, a zoom conversation, drink or dinner with Trump in Miami or an hour of golf with the former president.
He announced the collection on his own social media platform Truth Social. He already expected that the collection would be sold out quickly.
“Buy your tickets now! Only $99 each! A perfect Christmas present. Do not wait. They will sell out very quickly I think!”
A lot of criticism about Trump NFT
Despite the fact that the NFT collection was immediately sold out, there is a lot of criticism. Twitterers call the collection one scam. According to a Twitter account, the NFTs are very ugly, even by NFT standards. But according to the same account, it is definitely not a scam. When purchasing 45 different copies you get access to a gala with Trump. So it’s worth something says the tweeter.
The launch of the collection has not gone unnoticed outside crypto land either. The leading British newspaper, The Guardian, also reported on the event. In the article was quoted as saying John Kiriakou, a former CIA whistleblower. He has no positive word for Trump’s action.
“Just when you thought this con artist couldn’t humiliate himself any more, he does this.”
