The greens have presented a petition for the Minister of Environment and Energy Security, Gilberto Pichetto Fratin, to provide explanations to Parliament.
The president’s firstborn images shooting birds in an alleged protected area of the famous Venetian lagoon with a group of friends, published on an American website, have been criticized in the regional council of the Veneto, whose capital is Venice. Regional deputy Andrea Zanoni, of Green Europe, has denounced the scenes in which Donald Trump JR appears “firing several ducks”. These scenes were probably recently filmed in Valle Pirimpie ‘, in Campagna Lupia, which is an area protected by European regulations and is part of a Natura 2000 place in the EU as a special conservation zone called Laguna Media-Baja of Venice.
In addition, it is emphasized that in one frame, Trump’s son is seen “while describing the folded ducks, among which a Marriage (Tadorana Ferrugginea) is seen in the foreground, a very rare duck throughout Europe of almost completely orange oxide color.” This is a protected species throughout Europe by the EU Bird Directive and, of course, by Italian law, which in its article 30 sanctions its ‘sacrifice and retention’.
Controversy Over Hunting Regulations
Last December, Donald Trump Junior was in Venice on vacation with his new partner and a group of friends and participated in a hunt in La Laguna, according to local media. However, deputy Andrea Zanoni remembers that hunting is prohibited for non-residents in Italy.
