Donald Trump arrested, fingerprinted and released

MIAMI.

Former President Donald Trump, the Republican presidential frontrunner, pleaded not guilty in court in Miami to mishandling confidential information when he left the White House.

“We plead unequivocally not guilty,” said Todd Blanche, Trump’s lawyer.

The federal judge in the case, John Goodman, declared probation, a measure indicating that the defendant is not a risk to the country or likely to commit violent crimes.

In addition, Trump is also not prohibited from traveling outside the country.

The New York tycoon arrived at the court yesterday amid intense security measures and remained silent throughout the hearing.

The prosecution accuses him of having kept confidential documents after leaving the White House, which contained secret information on nuclear weapons.

A federal judge read him the 37 counts of which he is charged.

He faces 31 counts of willful withholding of national defense information; to one count of conspiracy to obstruct justice; another for possession of records, another for concealing the documents, as well as three more charges for concealing a document during a federal investigation, for intrigue and for false statements.

In a spacious room of the Wilkie D. Ferguson Jr. Court, the former president heard Judge Jonathan Goodman start the hearing with a historic sentence:

“United States of America against Donald Trump”, thus began the hearing in which for the first time a former president faces federal criminal charges.

“Does the Prosecutor’s Office want the former president to hand over his passport to the authorities?” asked the judge in the case.

“No, your Honor,” the prosecutor, David Harbach, replied.

“Should he be prohibited from leaving the country?”

“No, your Honor.

“What do you want the boxes for?”

According to the indictment, upon leaving the White House, Trump kept the classified documents at his Mar-a-Lago residence in Palm Beach in cardboard boxes.

After the appearance, Trump moved to his golf club in New Jersey.

In a message to his supporters, who gathered outside the building, he called the indictment an “evil and egregious abuse of power.”

In his message, the Republican accused President Joe Biden of having stored confidential information.

“I have those boxes, what do you want them for? they are personal belongings. You can see in the photographs, the boxes are on the floor. Hundreds of photographs and documents are in that house, memories and many more things, ”she said.

The presidential hopeful faces other judicial processes, among which the bribery Stormy Daniels, an adult film actress; she is also under investigation for the assault on the Capitol in January 2021.

MIAMI.— Former President Donald Trump made a surprise visit to Versailles Cuban restaurant in Miami, following his federal court hearing in the classified documents case.

During the unscheduled tour before heading to the Miami airport, Trump shook hands and spoke to supporters who were waiting for him at the venue, located in the Little Havana neighborhood.

Dozens of supporters of the former president surrounded him and made a gesture similar to that of a prayer.
