The representative team of the Dominican Republic defeated the Venezuelan team 3 runs to 2 to be crowned champion in the Caribbean Series of Children’s Baseball 11-12 years 2023, dedicated to the memory of the writer, politician and athlete Orlando Jorge Mera, at the stadium Rafael Pichardo of the Farándula league.
With her victory, the Dominican obtains the right to participate in the International Pony World Championship, to be held in Texas, Laredo, United States.
Award and closing
The Dominican Pony Baseball and the Organizing Committee of this event, in addition to delivering the trophies to the champions and runners-up, recognized all the players from the participating teams.
The most valuable player of the tournament was the boy Yoyo Tejeda from the Dominican Republic team, who was also the best left-handed pitcher.
While the “All Stars” team was made up of: Juanyer Herrera, Darién Montero, Obed Guerrero, Yeudi Nival, Leonardo Florentino and Cesar Lorenzo from the Dominican team.
Also part of this selection of players are the Venezuelans Francisco Blanco and Andrés Hernández.
During the closing of the Caribbean Series, the president of the organizing committee, Ely Encarnación, congratulated the winners as well as all the participating players, indicating that the experience gained and the passion given in all the games guarantee success in their careers.
“We live many beautiful experiences, with passion, love and dedication. Thank you all for participating,” said Encarnación.
He also thanked the sponsors, who made the activity possible.
For his part, Eugenio Báez, president of the Dominican Pony Baseball, thanked all the leaders and parents of the different teams for coming to the Dominican Republic “to play good baseball.”
The closing ceremony was attended by María Teresa Ferreiro, Bandex’s business vice president; Rafael Perdomo, representing EGEHID; Eliseo Serrano, director of the Pony for the Caribbean area and Alberto Beltré, president of the League that bears his name.
As well as the executive members of the Dominican Pony: Denia Cuello, alky Lara, Yessenia Santana, Carolina Gonzalez and Yaniris Febrillet.
