Dominican Republic will host the Caribbean Championship

The president of the Dominican Federation of Table Tennis (Fedoteme), Daniel Landrón, announced the celebration in the country of the Caribbean Children’s and Youth Championship of that discipline in the Pabellón del Parque del Este.

The president of Fedoteme informed that the tournament will take place from May 6 to 11 and that it is a qualifier for the Children’s Pan American Championship that will take place in Ecuador, as well as for the Junior Championship to be held in Argentina.

“Our teams are training for this important championship that will bring together the best tennis players in the region,” Landrón said.

The sports director explained that the Caribbean championship will begin with team competitions on May 6 and 7, and then give way to singles and doubles matches.

The president of the Fedoteme said that Ángel de la Cruz, president of the Presidential Commission for Provincial Development, is in charge of the organizing committee of the championship.

It is the second time that athlete De la Cruz has been appointed as president of the organizing committee of the Caribbean Children’s and Youth Championship. The first occasion was in last year’s edition.

The opening ceremony is scheduled to take place on Saturday the 7th at 5:00 in the afternoon.

The championship has the support of Claro, the Ministry of Sports, Creso, the Dominican Olympic Committee and the Central Supermarket.

Among the countries that will take part in the international tournament are Jamaica, Puerto Rico, Saint Lucia, Curaçao, Guyana, Haiti, Grenada, the Dominican Republic, as well as Trinidad and Tobago.
