Dominican Republic defeats Puerto Rico in the U20 Women’s Soccer Premundial

The Dominican Republic defeated Puerto Rico this Monday with a score of two goals to one in the third round of group B of the 2023 Concacaf Women’s Under-20 Championship. The match took place at the San Cristóbal Pan-American Stadium.

Despite the victory, the Dominicans could not advance to the semifinals to seek the ticket to the World Cup.

The Puerto Ricans took the lead on the scoreboard at minute 37 through Kennedy García and with that advantage they would go to halftime.

Already in complementary time, Sedofútbol was able to equalize the scoreboard with a goal by Angelina Vargas at 57′ and on the 65′ fraction Alexa Castro put the number in favor of the quisqueyanas.

With the victory, the Dominican Republic finished third in group B with a victory and two losses to accumulate three points, a position that does not allow them to advance to the semifinals and in that instance seek the pass to the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.

Mexico as first and Costa Rica finished first and second in the group, while Puerto Rico finished in last place.

Sedofútbol is once again very close to achieving its World Cup qualification in the Under-20 category of the women’s branch, in the last three Concacaf World Cups it has been among the best eight teams of the 41 that make up the confederation.
