About ICAO

ICAO is a specialized agency of the United Nations (UN) system, created in 1944 by signing the Convention on International Civil Aviation in the city of Chicago, in order to promote the safe and orderly development of international air transport.

ICAO is made up of 193 member States and develops Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs) for the safety of civil aviation, the sustainability of air transport and the protection of the environment.
