Dominican men’s team 1 is a finalist in the U12 Championship

The Dominican Republic 1 men’s team could not beat Mexico 1 in the final of the Central American and Caribbean U12 Tennis Team Championship that concluded this Wednesday in Parque del Este.

The Aztecs prevailed in the first two games with Niccolo Magagni’s victory over Miguel Baquero 6-3, 6-4, the same score with which Emilio Alcalá beat Creole Isaac Guerrero to seal the victory.

On the female side, Mexico 1 took the best part of the duel between compatriots by also defeating Mexico 2 in the first two matches with wins by Azul López-Vásquez against Abril Cárdenas 6-3, 6-2, and Hanne Estrada over Fernanda Marin 6-1, 6-0.

As for the other Creole teams, the girls from Dominican Republic 2 finished in fifth place in the tournament, while the first national women’s team took seventh place. On their side, the boys from Dominicana 2 finished in sixth place.

In addition to Mexicans and Dominicans, delegations from the Bahamas, Bermuda, Costa Rica, El Salvador and Guatemala participated in the tournament, which are the champions of the U12 events of subregions 2, 3 and 4 of the Tennis Confederation of Central America and the Caribbean. (COTECC).

The competition was under the supervision of Cuban Abel Álvarez, and the Development Officer of the International Tennis Federation (ITF), John Goede, from Suriname. Sergio Tobal, vice president of the Dominican Tennis Federation (Fedotenis), was in charge of the general direction, and Francisco De los Santos in the coordination of the national referees.
