The pitcher Domingo Robles will go up to the mound for the Tigres del Licey team in the second game of the Caribbean Series, Gran Caracas 2023, when they face the Agricultores de Bayamo, at 2:30 pm at the Forum Stadium, La Guaira. Robles is a 6-2, 170-pound lefty who was selected by the Estrellas Orientales in the 2018 rookie draft and made his subsequent LIDOM debut in 2020. This edition of the Caribbean classic marks the first time the a native of Imbert, Puerto Plata wears the tricolor shirt at an international event: “For me it means a lot to represent the Dominican Republic for the first time. I feel very proud and excited”, commented Robles. “I am very positive, the expectations are excellent and I think many good things are going to happen today,” he added. The 24-year-old player pointed out the importance of having experienced players in the Dominican team: “They are people who have a lot of knowledge and they always keep giving us advice, trying to find the little things to teach what we should change.” The native will face the team from Cuba that won 3-1 in the first match of the competition against the Curaçao Wildcats. “We have the information of the rival. The pitching coach gives us everything we need to know to get an idea of who we’re going to face and what kind of hitters they are,” he recounted. Robles accumulated a 0.81 earned run average, 30 strikeouts, only 9 walks and a 1.02 WHIP in 33 innings and a third of work, in the regular season of the Dominican Republic Professional Baseball League.
