O Dolby Atmos spatial audio and support for lossless audio on Apple Music are close to reaching HomePod and HomePod mini.
With the latest beta 5, Apple has added a new dedicated button for Dolby Atmos to the Home app, which joins the Lossless Audio button that was seen in previous betas.
This shows that Apple is working on launching support for Dolby Atmos and Lossless Audio on HomePod.
Apple also explains what each setting does:
- Lossless audio: Lossless audio files preserve all the details of the original file. If enabled, much more data will be consumed.
- Dolby Atmos: Plays music compatible with Dolby Atmos and other Dolby audio formats.
After activating these two features, you will notice that HomePod is capable of playing music in these two formats.
You can only use the Dolby Atmos feature on the original HomePod when connecting a pair with the Apple TV 4K.
