Dodgers place Kershaw on disabled list indefinitely

All-Star left-hander Clayton Kershaw was placed on the Los Angeles Dodgers’ disabled list indefinitely on Friday.

The Los Angeles Major League Baseball team reported that the pitcher, a three-time Cy Young Award winner, suffers from inflammation of the pelvic or sacroiliac joint.

This type of inflammation that affects Clayton can cause pain in the buttocks or lower back, which often extends to one or both legs, making it significantly impossible for a pitcher who depends on his back and legs.

Kershaw was scheduled to start Friday’s game against the Philadelphia Phillies and fellow left-hander Garrett Cleavinger will start in his place.

So far this season, Kershaw has taken the mound five times, going 4-0 with a 1.80 ERA while striking out 32 in 30 innings for the Dodgers.
