Dodgers beat Brewers, Tom Gonsolin gets his 15th win

Tony Gonsolin pitched seven shutout innings for his 15th win, Austin Barmes and Max Muncy each homered, and the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Milwaukee Brewers 2-1 on Wednesday night.

Gonsolin (15-1) tied with the Astros’ Justin Verlander as the major league leader in wins this season. Los Angeles is 21-5 since the All-Star break and has the best record in the majors (81-35).

Craig Kimbrel, who blew a save opportunity Tuesday in Milwaukee’s 5-4 loss in 11 innings, this time allowed two foes to reach base in the ninth but came out unscathed for his 21st save.

The Brewers moved within three games of St. Louis, the leader of the NL Central.

Eric Lauer (8-5) covered seven solid innings for Milwaukee, allowing four hits in seven innings, including both homers.

For the Dodgers, the Dominican Hansel Alberto 3-1.

For the Brewers, Dominican Willy Adames 3-0. The Mexican Luis Urías 4-0. Puerto Rican Mario Feliciano 2-1.
