ByteDancethe Beijing-based parent company of TikTok, recently launched a new fashion retail platform called If Yooou. It is mainly dedicated to the sale of women’s clothing and focused on main European markets such as the United Kingdom, France, Italy and Spain. This is ByteDance’s third attempt to capture the fast fashion market.
At the moment, according to a report by Chinese media outlet Huxiu on November 1, recent data on If Yooou compiled by Internet analytics provider SimilarWeb shows that it has experienced a web traffic crisis.
If Yooou’s web traffic decreases in recent months
The information provided by SimilarWeb indicates that the data on visits to the If Yooou website has been available since June of this year. From that time to October 28, the total monthly number of visits to the retail platform’s website was approximately 351,000, 436,000, 177,000, 45,000 and 5,007, respectively. Except for the increase in July, its web traffic dropped sharply in the following months.
On the other hand, If Yooou’s homepage continues to show summer dresses. Meanwhile, the platform’s highly successful competitor, Shein, has already started showing winter clothing and Black Friday-related content.
ByteDance has a lackluster record with its own fast fashion companies. Dmonstudio, the Beijing-based internet company’s former clothing venture aimed at Western consumers, closed in February after failing to gain traction.
