Tennis player Novak Djokovic has been banned from Australia. The tennis player is there to participate in the Australian Open tennis tournament. That tournament starts on Monday, but Djokovic is not there.
Djokovic has not been vaccinated against corona. And that is mandatory if you want to enter Australia. The tennis player was still infected with corona in December and he thought that he could travel into the country with it.
Not in quarantine
Later this week, more striking news about Djokovic came out. For example, he had filled in the registration form for the tournament incorrectly. He had filled in that he had not been abroad while he was still in Spain in December.
Nor had he gone into quarantine, even though he already knew he was infected. He even gave an interview to a journalist.
Better for Australia
The Australian minister had to decide whether Djokovic could stay or not. He says it would be better for Australian society if Djokovic goes home.
