After Netflix introduced and launched a more affordable ad-supported plan, it’s Disney+’s turn to follow suit. The well-known platform has just made available a new cheaper plan that involves displaying ads.

According to Disney officials, this new modality aims to make the platform more accessible to capture a broader audience, as well as generate additional revenue through advertising.

For now, this Disney+ option is only available in the United States of America. But Bob Iger, CEO of Disney, has already confirmed that the new modality will also be available in Europe, later this year.

According to the information disclosed, this modality of the Disney streaming service involves watching four minutes of advertising per hour. Compared to cable TV services and free-to-air channels, commercial space time is significantly less.

Disney+’s ad-supported option doesn’t allow offline content

Another of the disseminated data that attracts attention is that this modality of Disney with advertising brings with it a disadvantage that will not please all users.

An Internet connection will be required each time the service is used. All because the most affordable plan with ads doesn’t allow you to watch content offline.

According to some sources, the ads will also be subject to filters. It seems that Disney+ will not include ads related to alcohol, politics or competition in its business.

Regarding the prices of the new available plans, we can only present the offer available, as of now, in the North American market.

Thus, the ad-free monthly subscription to Disney+ went from $7.99 per month to $10.99. The annual subscription without commercial space has also been increased from $79.99 per year to $109.99 per year.

The ad-supported monthly subscription costs $7.99 per month. In this specific case, the streaming platform does not offer an annual option.

In a direct currency conversion, we are talking about monthly values between 7 and 10 euros and annual costs between 75 and 100 euros. Possibly, when the new modality with Disney ads is available in Europe, these values may suffer a slight increase.
