The shot of the Los Mina IV generation plant increased on Wednesday energy deficit registered by the national electricity system, increasing the round of blackouts that the population receives and user complaints about long hours without service electric.
The Coordinating Body of the National Interconnected Electric System (OC-SENI) notified yesterday, through a report posted on its web portal, the firing of unit 6 of the Los Mina energy park and its exit from the system, which affected 20 circuits of the three distribution companies.
Residents of the eastern zone expressed their irritation to this medium, reporting that they are receiving between six and eight hours of blackoutswhich has forced them to resort to the use of investors, and the same situation was corroborated by residents of the National District and West Santo Domingo.
According to the Executive Daily Operations Report of the SENI Coordinating Body, 69.9% of the energy not served responds to a generation deficitwhile 29.04% is due to internal causes of distribution.
The deficit in power generation is explained by the output from the system of unit 1 of the Punta Catalina Thermoelectric Power Plant, Itabo 1, CESPM 1 FO, CESPM 2 FO, Estrella de Mar (CGN, CFO, SGN), Haina TG, Los Mina V and VI, Los Origenes, Quisqueya 1 , San Felipe, among other.
Unit 1 of Punta Catalina is out of service due to major maintenance, while other generators are out of service due to scheduled maintenance and other causes. This Monday, units 1 and 2 of the Itabo electricity generator, which contribute 238 megawatts (MW) of firm power to the system, were affected by the sargassum that is present on the country’s coasts every year.
