A short stage of 174 kilometers whose only climb, Portella Mandrazzi, halfway through, culminates at 1125 meters. From Catania to the outskirts of Taormina, the roads will be quite wide and mostly flat, but winding. In Messina, the finish seems ideal for sprinters.
At the start of the stage, the Spaniard Juan Pedro Lopez (Trek-Segafredo) is wearing the leader’s pink jersey. He is ahead of 39 seconds Lennard Kämna (Bora Hansgrohe), winner of the stage on Tuesday, and 58 seconds Rein Taaramae (Intermarché-Wanty-Gobert materials).
