The first Spanish plane that brought around fifty Afghans and some Spaniards from Kabul arrived this Thursday morning at the Torrejón de Ardoz military base (northeast of Madrid).

The military plane, an Airbus A400M that left Dubai on Thursday night around 6:00 pm GMT, is one of three planes mobilized by the Spanish government to provide an airlift to exfiltrate the few Spaniards there from Afghanistan. . This first group of survivors was received on the track at the Torrejón de Ardoz base by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, José Manuel Albares, and the Minister of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration, José Luis Escrivá.

They first had to undergo certain formalities, including a Covid-19 screening test.

The first Afghans brought to safety by France after their country’s fall to the Taliban arrived at the Parisian airport of Roissy Charles-de-Gaulle on Wednesday. An Air Force plane carrying more than 200 passengers, including 25 French and a vast majority of Afghans, including a large number of women and children, landed shortly before 7:00 pm GMT.

This is the second arrival in Paris of a flight from the air bridge established by France to evacuate French and Afghans from the country fallen into the hands of the Taliban.
