Direbus joins the alliance to decarbonize heavy urban transport promoted by Cepsa and BeGas

Direbus, the association of bus companies, has joined the alliance promoted by Cepsa and BeGas to decarbonize heavy urban transport with bioautogas. The agreement reached during the III. National Congress of SMEs on Transport and Road Mobility (this week in Irún, Guipúzcoa), aims to further accelerate the decarbonization of urban transport through the use of biogas and other renewable fuels This is the case with vehicles used to transport people, such as buses and Coaches, the case.

The creation of Direbus, which brings together more than 700 companies in the road transport sector at national level for discretionary and regular public passenger transport services, is a response to the commitment of this sector to advance the decarbonization of its activities and its commitment to finding sustainable mobility solutions.

With this new membership, the integrative alliance led by Cepsa and BeGas now has ten partners from the public and private sectors: the vehicle and machine manufacturers Mobility Bus, Herko, Buxo Trucks, Socage, Aebi Schmidt Ibérica and Revenant, the companies Urbaser and Sulo, that have vehicles of this type in their fleets, ANEPMA (National Association of Public Environmental Companies) and Direbus.

Likewise, Marcos Pallás, Head of LPG Marketing at Cepsa, emphasized: “We are proud to further expand this transversal alliance, because it means that our vocation to help our customers and the entire transport sector decarbonize their activities continues to grow. “Our strategy has a clear goal: to advance the sustainability of transportation, and to achieve this we must continue to add allies to our collaboration ecosystem.”

For his part, Pedro Silva, CEO of BeGas, has pointed out that “this new accession is a new example of how internal combustion engines powered by BioAutogás are a strategic solution to achieve the 2050 goals.”

Cepsa and BeGas, commitment to the decarbonization of transport

The commitment to founding and promoting the Alliance to Decarbonize Heavy Urban Transport with Bioautogas confirms the commitment of its founding companies to reducing emissions from heavy urban vehicles. Cepsa currently has an annual production capacity of 7,000 tons of biopropane in its energy parks and as part of its Positive Motion strategy, the company expects to produce more than 100,000 tons of this sustainable gas annually by 2030.

BeGas Motor, in turn, is a European benchmark in the production and development of engines powered by alternative energies such as autogas or bioautogas, and is the only manufacturer of 100% autogas engines – without the need to use a hybrid engine with diesel or gasoline. For city trucks and buses that have Euro VI Stage E approval.
