Diomande Out of Ivory Coast World Cup Qualifiers Due to Injury

The central defender, Diomande, faces a tough road ahead. He is battling a right thigh muscle injury, putting him in a race against the clock. His biggest club challenge is approaching: the crucial “Clássico” match against FC Porto this Saturday. That big game kicks off at 8:30 PM at Alvalade stadium.

Due to this lingering injury, Diomande will not join the Ivory Coast squad for their upcoming World Cup qualifiers. The national team coach, Emerse Fáe, decided to play it safe. He chose not to risk the Sporting player’s health. This means Diomande will miss the matches against Burundi on September 5 and Gabon on September 9. These games are vital steps towards qualifying for the 2026 World Cup.

Diomande has been out of his club’s lineup since the first game of the season against Casa Pia. Instead of traveling for international duty during the FIFA break, he will remain at Alcochete. This will allow him to focus entirely on his recovery.
