Diogo Travassos recently landed at Moreirense. The young defender signed just last week. Coach Vasco Botelho da Costa wasted no time. He immediately put Travassos into action. This was in a tough game against Barcelos, which Moreirense lost. Even so, Travassos showed flashes of talent. He proved he will be an important player for the team down the road.
However, Travassos faces an unexpected hurdle. The league is about to go on a short break. Usually, this time helps new players settle in. They get to train deeply and build connections with their new teammates. But Travassos will miss this chance. LuÃs Freire called him up for Portugal’s U21 national squad.
So, instead of bonding with his new club, Travassos will join the national team. This means his full integration into the Moreirense lineup will be put on hold. He already spent his pre-season training with Sporting’s main team. Then came the loan move to Moreirense. Now, national duty creates another shift. It is a lot of change for a young player in a short time.
The national call-up is a great honor, of course. It speaks volumes about his potential. Yet, it delays his adaptation to his new surroundings. Despite these interruptions, the club still has high hopes. Everyone expects Travassos to find his place and shine brightly for Moreirense in the future.
