DICE’s Sirland: Battlefield 6 Beta Vehicles Underpowered, Prioritizing Balance

Players who got a chance to try out the recent Battlefield 6 beta quickly noticed something important. The vehicles in the game felt less powerful than before. Tanks and other armored units seemed to break down very easily when hit. This was a big change from past games.

David Sirland, a lead producer at DICE in charge of Battlefield 6, talked about this with PC Gamer. He spoke during the game’s official reveal event. Sirland agreed that vehicles in the game need proper balancing. He pointed out that infantry soldiers now have many tools to take on armored vehicles. He admitted this creates a tricky balance problem for the development team. They are working hard to find the best solution.

However, Sirland explained his thinking on this matter. He believes it is better to give players slightly weaker tanks at the start. Over time, players will figure out how to best use them and counter them. He worried that armored vehicles could become a huge problem if they were too strong. This is especially true once players master them after the game officially launches. A very skilled player in an overpowered tank can quickly ruin a match.

The wait to see the final vehicle balance will not be much longer. Battlefield 6 is set to launch on October 10. It will be available for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC players.
