DiCaprio: ‘One Battle After Another’ Character Bob Fails, Unlike Cruise’s Mission Impossible

Hollywood’s rumor mill has been buzzing louder than a blockbuster movie premiere. Talk has been going around that Leonardo DiCaprio’s upcoming film, ‘One Battle After Another,’ might feature a role similar to Tom Cruise’s iconic spy in ‘Mission: Impossible.’ But if you ask DiCaprio himself, that comparison misses the mark entirely.

The Oscar-winning actor is genuinely excited about ‘One Battle After Another,’ directed by Paul Thomas Anderson. However, he’s also quick to set the record straight on how his new character stacks up against any globe-trotting secret agent.

Leonardo DiCaprio: My Character Bob Gets Everything Wrong

According to People Magazine, DiCaprio’s role is the exact opposite of Cruise’s capable characters. He describes his character, Bob, as someone who consistently messes things up. “Bob does everything wrong,” DiCaprio explained. “He can’t bring any of his work to completion.” It sounds like we’re in for a hero who’s a bit more, well, human.

The thriller, ‘One Battle After Another,’ is based on the 1990 novel ‘Vineland.’ The story brings together a group of people who unite to face an enemy. This foe returns after 16 years, stirring up old troubles.

Meet the Star-Studded Cast

Paul Thomas Anderson not only directed but also wrote the film. DiCaprio is joined by a talented cast, including Benicio del Toro, Teyana Taylor, and Sean Penn. Benicio del Toro shared his happiness about working alongside DiCaprio. “Leo is one of those actors I’ve always admired,” he said. Del Toro noted that he’d never had the chance to work with DiCaprio before. “This opportunity was a fantastic experience for me,” he added, hoping DiCaprio felt the same way.

Audiences won’t have to wait long to see DiCaprio’s distinct new role. ‘One Battle After Another’ is set to hit theaters on September 26. DiCaprio is currently quite busy promoting the film, ready to show everyone just how different Bob really is.
