Fabio Di Giannantonio was the third MotoGP pilot to be injured on the first day of testing in Sepang, Malaysia. Initially, Jorge Martín and Raúl Fernández suffered fractures after falls during the trial. Di Giannantonio also suffered a similar misfortune, although his incident was unusual and avoidable. According to witnesses, ‘Diggia’ had finished training and was performing the exit test when he attempted a wheelie. As his front wheel touched the ground, he lost his balance and fell, resulting in a fracture in his left clavicle, as confirmed by his team, VR46.
The team stated that Fabio will return to Europe and undergo an operation in the coming days. Therefore, he will miss the remaining two days of the Sepang test, the joint MotoGP presentation in Bangkok, Thailand, this Sunday, and possibly the Buriram test on February 12 and 13. The circumstance of the fractured shoulder is notable, as it is the same shoulder that required an operation at the end of last year. Di Giannantonio had fallen in Austria and opted for surgery to solve problems with his ligaments. As a result, he did not participate in the Barcelona test with the Ducati GP25 and made his premiere today in Malaysia. With the Ducati GP25, considered one of the best motorcycles, alongside Marc Márquez and Pecco Bagnaia, Di Giannantonio is a candidate for the title, but his adaptation has now suffered a setback.
