Dhoni used to take the pressure off bowlers like this, Yuzvendra Chahal told an amusing anecdote.

India team spinner Yuzvendra Chahal narrated an old anecdote in a very funny way in a conversation with his playing partner R Ashwin. This anecdote is about his most expensive T20 International spell launched in the year 2018. In this story, there is a special mention to the former captain of India Mahendra Singh Dhoni (MS Dhoni).

UG explains on R Ashwin’s YouTube channel ‘DRS with Ash’: ‘Once in a T20 match against South Africa, I made 64 runs in four overs. Klaasen calmly turned me around. Mahi bhai told me around the wicket aa jaa. When I got to the wicket, Klaasen hit a six over midwicket, then Mahi bhai came at me. I said – yes brother Mahi, what to do now. Then he said: nothing, I have come to you just like that. Today is not your day. You try but you can’t. Don’t think about it anymore, finish your quota of four overs and relax.

While narrating this whole story, UG also says that ‘if someone scolded you at that time, your faith would have collapsed. But he told me it was just a match. You played well in ODI. You can’t do well in every game. There are others, let them also play. Then I learned that when you’re not having a day, you shouldn’t try too hard, just try to give fewer runs and build pressure so the rest of the bowler can take wickets. Many of these things were learned from Mahi bhai.
