Dhoni gave this special advice to Conway, who scored three consecutive half centuries, it was revealed

Thanks to Chennai Super Kings batsman Devon Conway, the team recorded their fourth win this IPL season. With this victory, CSK reaches the number eight spot in the IPL points table. Conway said after the match that captain Dhoni advised him to play the sweep shot, and he followed through with it.

CSK won by 91 runs against Delhi Capitals on Sunday. Left-handed batsman Conway scored 87 runs on 49 balls, where he was named ‘Man of the Match’. Conway revealed that he wanted to keep his hitting simple, so he could score big.

Conway said after the game that “I really enjoyed playing a long association with starter Ruturaj Gaikwad. He also discussed this with hitting coach Mike Hussey on how to target bowlers. The way I’m very happy with Gaikwad and myself managing the tickets.”

This was the third straight half-century for CSK’s left-handed batsman Conway this season as the team scored 208 runs for six wickets loss on the scoreboard due to the batsman. According to Chennai Super Kings.com, the batsman faced only 49 balls, of which only 10 balls went to the points. At first, Conway tested the balls, after which he began to apply limits, so he had the opportunity to play long innings. Conway’s game against spins came to the fore as he used his legs and crease to overpower top spinners. He hit two straight sixes in the fifth over Axar Patel.

He made 17 while facing nine balls from Akshar. While against Kuldeep Spin, he scored 37 runs on 10 balls, which included four fours and three sixes. Another important aspect of Conway’s hitting was that he controlled his innings and shared a 110-run start with Gaikwad.

Previously against Sunrisers Hyderabad, Conway accelerated his innings brilliantly and shared a 182-run partnership with Gaikwad. A similar scene was seen against Delhi Capitals on Sunday. The left-handed batsman was initially at 14 runs on 13 balls, after which he scored the next 73 runs on just 36 balls.

South African great Graeme Smith told Star Sports: “Devon Conway is a fantastic batsman. His stroke play, whether it was through the leg side or offside, was excellent. The other thing is he has the ability to rotate the strike and has a short shot. The limit was hit well.”
