He recalled wanting to eat idlis as a child but not having money to buy them. So, he and his sister came up with a plan. They would gather flowers from their neighborhood every morning. Waking up at 4 AM, they’d work for two hours, selling the flowers. They would earn 2 rupees from this effort. With that money, they’d rush to a nearby idli shop. There, they could buy 4 or 5 idlis. Dhanush explained that the satisfaction of buying food with his own hard-earned money was unmatched. This touching memory became the core idea for ‘Idli Kadai’.
