DGII reports 91% renewed the label on time, the rest will have to pay a surcharge

The General Directorate of Internal Taxes (DGII) reported that a total of 1,527,844 vehicles renewed the tag on time for the 2022-2023 period for 91% compliance in relation to the 1,684,837 vehicles eligible for renewal.

Until the official closing date of the label renewal period, this Tuesday, January 31, for the Vehicle Circulation Tax, RD$2,514,343,500 of a general estimate of RD$2,743,183,500 million had already been collected.

This meant a 7% increase in collections during the business period compared to last year.

The general director of DGII, Luis Valdez Veras, recognized the effort and goodwill of the majority of the citizens who own vehicles who renewed their tag on time by almost 100%.

Call to avoid fines

Valdez Veras urged those who have not yet renewed to pay the cost of the tag to avoid fines from traffic agents.

Regarding the sanctions, Valdez indicated that more than charging this penalty, what is always about is avoiding crowds.

The term for renewal without surcharges began on October 18, 2022 and ended on January 15, 2023 online and on January 31 through the 33 authorized financial and cooperative entities.

Via the web portal www.dgii.gov.do, 130,729 tags equivalent to RD$233,098,500 were sold.

Meanwhile through authorized financial entities and cooperatives RD$2,187,471,000. While, in the collection offices of the DGII of Villa Vásquez, Montecristi province and Sánchez, Samaná province, 42,301 were renewed for an amount of RD$93,774,000

The values ​​of the Vehicle Circulation Tax (label) remain unchanged in relation to the previous period, at RD$1,500.00 for vehicles manufactured up to the year 2017 and RD$3,000.00 for vehicles manufactured from the year 2018, inclusive, onwards.

These are the sanctions:

The DGII says that the amounts corresponding to the sanctions for non-renewal are maintained during the established term, in RD$2,000.00 (surcharge) for vehicles that renew after January 31, 2023.

RD$2,100.00 for vehicles without renewing the 2021-2022 tag (RD$2,000.00 for the concept of a penalty for non-renewal plus RD$100.00 for the concept of administrative cessation).

RD$3,100.00 for vehicles without renewing the 2020-2021 tag and previous years (RD$3,000.00 for the concept of a penalty for non-renewal plus RD$100.00 for administrative cessation).
