India won the second Test against England, played in Visakhapatnam. After losing the first game of the series, India was destined to win the second Test. But after winning the second Test, the Indian team need not be too happy. Team India, who won the second game, still needs to improve significantly to be successful in the upcoming games. That’s why we’ll tell you what deficits India has to overcome.
India’s top order has failed to deliver a consistent performance in both Tests played so far. In the second match, opener Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill, playing at number three, scored runs but Rohit Sharma flopped. Although Jaiswal also scored runs in the first Test, but then Shubman Gill along with Rohit Sharma was also a flop. In such a situation, Team India will have to ensure continuity in the top flight from the third Test to be played in Rajkot.
The form of batsmen playing in the middle order is not very good. Shreyas Iyer, one of the key middle-order batsmen, has looked like a flop so far. Iyer scored just 104 runs in four innings. Apart from this, Rajat Patidar, who played in the second Test, also flopped.
In the first Test played in Hyderabad, the Indian team made Mohammed Siraj a part of the playing XI along with Bumrah. Then Mukesh Kumar was part of India as the second pacer in the Test held in Visakhapatnam. But in both games no one could support Bumrah. Bumrah bowled brilliantly in both games but the fast bowlers with him almost flopped.
In the two Tests played so far, there was nothing special to be seen in the Indian team’s field. In the first Test played in Hyderabad, the Indian fielders gave Ollie Pope two lives by dropping the catch after which he brought England back into the contest. Apart from this, Pope gained life by stumping in the Visakhapatnam Test. In such a situation, Team India needs to improve the fielding department for the remaining matches of the series.
