When Kingsley Coman showed up at Clairefontaine to rejoin the French national team, he got a unique welcome. Coach Didier Deschamps had a little joke ready for him. Coman, who had missed the September matches, was quick with a comeback. It seems playing for France brings more than just training drills.
According to ‘RMC Sports’, Deschamps spotted Coman, who plays alongside Cristiano Ronaldo at Al Nassr. “So, Mr. King, how are those vacations going?” Deschamps quipped. This was a clear jab at the common idea that playing football in Saudi Arabia is an easy ride. But Coman, the former Bayern star, wasn’t about to let it slide. He fired back, “Try playing in Baghdad.”
Coman’s reply referred to a recent trip made by Al Nassr earlier this month. They traveled to Baghdad to face Al-Zawra’a Sports Club. Al Nassr secured a 2-0 victory in that match. Clearly, for Coman, playing in certain regions is far from a leisurely vacation.
