Deportivo striker Zakaria Eddahchouri had a close call on Saturday night after falling off a cliff in Corunha, Spain. The incident occurred around midnight when Eddahchouri, 25, attempted to take a selfie on the rocky Os Pelamios cliff. He lost his footing and tumbled about five meters down.
Emergency services were quickly alerted, and a rescue operation was launched. A Maritime Rescue helicopter was initially deployed, but it was eventually determined that Eddahchouri was stranded on the cliff face, not in the water.
Rescue Effort
Firefighters responded to the scene and used a ladder to reach Eddahchouri. They were able to rescue him without major incident. Although he complained of chest pain, initial assessments indicated that his injuries were not severe.
The Deportivo team released a statement confirming Eddahchouri’s condition. “The RC Deportivo informs that player Zakaria Eddahchouri is under observation at a Corunha hospital after yesterday’s accident. Following initial examinations, the player has minor injuries and is receiving treatment,” the statement read.
Eddahchouri was taken to the University Hospital of Corunha as a precautionary measure. The cause of the accident appears to be related to his attempt to take a selfie, highlighting the risks of taking unnecessary risks for social media content.
- Photos and videos of the rescue operation surfaced on social media, showing the extent of the efforts made to save Eddahchouri.
- The incident has raised concerns about the safety of taking selfies in hazardous locations.
