The Dominican swimmer, Denzel González, stood up for the country after winning the gold medal this Saturday in the continuation of the eighth version of the Dominican Republic International Swim Open & National Championship.
González, from the La Vega Association, made a mark of 23:64 in the 50-meter freestyle, in the joust that was successfully held at the Aquatic Complex of the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center.
The second step corresponded to Santiago Aguilera, from Colombia, after managing to stop the clock at 23:72, the third place went to the Dominican Robert Liz Cabrera, with a mark of 23:84.
On the other hand, the representative of the National District Association, Anthony Piñeiro, set an absolute record in the 100-meter backstroke after completing a time of 58.69, in the fair that brings together 12 countries.
Piñeiro broke a mark that he had held since 2015, Jean Luis Gómez, with a time of 58.93.
Meanwhile, the Creoles Andrés Martijena (28.40) and Josué Domínguez (28.66) got silver and bronze, respectively, in the 50-meter breaststroke competition that Cuban Julio Calero Suarez won.
Elizabeth Jimenez stands out
The representative of the National District Association, Elizabeth Jiménez, won the silver medal in the 50-meter backstroke, registering a time of 1:03.65, remaining a few thousandths of snatching first place from the Colombian, Isabella Arcila, who stopped the clock in 1:03.62.

In the 50-meter freestyle, the Colombian Isabella Arcila was credited with the highest honors after making a mark of 25.91, seconded by the Cuban, Elisbet Gamez Matos, with 26.18, the third step corresponded to the Bolivarian, María José Ribera Pinto, with time from 26.50.
In the 200-meter butterfly, Karen Durango Restrepo, from Antioquia, took the gold medal after managing to stop the clock in 2:10.68, she was escorted by her compatriot Mariana Hoyos Rueda, 2:16.87, while the third step went to Lorena from Los Angeles, from Cuba, with a time of 2:24.59.
The fair continues this Sunday with competitions starting at 9:00 in the morning.
The event dedicated to Maritza Creus de Rodríguez, is led by swimmers from: Colombia, Guatemala, Bolivia, Panama, Costa Rica, the United States, Puerto Rico, Haiti, Latvia, El Salvador, Cuba and the Dominican Republic.
