The buzz around “Udaipur Files: Kanhaiya Lal Tailor Murder” just hit a snag. The Delhi High Court has put the brakes on the film’s release for now. This means fans won’t see it hit theaters on July 11 as planned.
The court’s decision arrived after a group called Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind stepped in. They asked for a review of the film’s censor board certificate. The movie’s future is now on hold until the Central Government makes a decision on this request. It’s clear: “Udaipur Files” won’t be coming out tomorrow.
A Film in Limbo
The court shared its thoughts on the matter. Judges said since the group asked for a review, the film’s release should pause. This pause will last until a decision is made on their plea. The group argued that the film could upset public harmony. They felt it might even cause problems. For these reasons, they believe the film’s censor board approval needs a fresh look.
“Udaipur Files” tells the story of a shocking event from 2022. That year, a tailor named Kanhaiya Lal was brutally murdered in Udaipur. Two individuals were involved in his death. The film, which features actor Vijay Raj, was set to be shown in cinemas on July 11. But for now, that date has passed without a premiere.
Supreme Court’s Earlier Stance
Before this, the Supreme Court had weighed in on the film. They had clarified that they didn’t issue a written order against the film’s quick release. This clarification came after some confusion. Senior advocate Kapil Sibal, representing accused Mohammed Javed, mentioned a remark from the bench. He said the comment, “Let the film be released,” had caused misunderstandings.
Justice Sudhanshu Dhulia and Justice Joymalya Bagchi from the Supreme Court then made things clear. They explained their earlier comments. Their words aimed to clear up any mix-up about the film’s status at that time.
