Death toll from multiple hit-and-run in a Christmas parade in Wisconsin, United States rises to six

Those killed by the multiple run over during a Christmas parade in Waukesha, in the US state of Wisconsin, have risen to six with the death of a child, prosecutors reported Tuesday.

The alleged perpetrator identified as Darrell E. Brooks, a 39-year-old man, has been charged with five counts of willful murder in the first degree, according to the Waukseha County District Attorney’s Office which now considers a sixth count of manslaughter by the death of the minor.

The event, which occurred on Sunday, has thus left six fatalities and a total of 62 injured, of which 18 are children, the accusation has indicated, reports the US media CNN.

The alleged perpetrator, arrested on Sunday afternoon after fleeing the scene, faces life in prison for the five charges in his name and has a bail of five million dollars (more than 4.4 million euros).

Waukesha Police Chief Daniel Thompson said Brooks would have acted only after being involved in a "domestic disturbance". Specifically, the alleged perpetrator would have been released from prison on bail of about a thousand dollars (about 890 euros) two weeks ago after allegedly trying to run over a woman who claimed to be the mother of his son.

In addition, the Police have asserted that "no evidence" whether it is a terrorist incident.
