During his lifetime, “Bébel” had twice the honors of the Republic. In November 2019, he was decorated with the insignia of Grand Officer of the Legion of Honor. Emmanuel Macron had given him this distinction, at the Elysee Palace. In May 2017, during his last week in power, François Hollande had made him a grand officer of the National Order of Merit.
