Lucknow Super Giants have added deadly West Indies bowler Shamar Joseph to the team. Joseph will play in the 2024 Indian Premier League. He got a place in the Lucknow team in place of Mark Wood. Joseph’s performance so far has been excellent. He recently made his international debut and made everyone a fan by delivering devastating bowling performances in the debut series itself. Lucknow bought Joseph for 3 crore rupees.
IPL released a statement on Saturday saying Lucknow has added Shamar Joseph to the team. Joseph got a place in the team in place of Mark Wood. Recently, he bowled lethally in the Test match at Gabba. In doing so, he gave the West Indies a historic win against Australia by taking seven wickets in the second innings. Joseph will be seen in IPL for the first time. He has to pay Rs 3 crore to Lucknow.
Shamar made his international debut in January this year. He made his debut in the test match against Australia in Adelaide on January 17th. Shamar has taken 13 wickets in the two Test matches played for West Indies so far. During this period, the best performance was taking 7 wickets for 68 runs in an innings. Joseph has also played 2 T20 matches. He has taken 34 wickets in 7 first-class matches. During this period, the best performance was taking 7 wickets for 68 runs in an innings. He also tried his hand at batting.
It is noteworthy that Mark Wood has been with the Lucknow Super Giants since 2022. The team had bought him for Rs 7.50 crore. However, he was unable to play due to injury. After that, he took part in the IPL 2023. During this time, Wood took 11 wickets in four matches. Wood has only played five matches in the IPL so far. He played his debut game in 2018.
