De Zerbi explains the Robert Sánchez case

Roberto De Zerbi reviewed the current situation of Brighton before facing Newcastle this Thursday in the Premier. The Italian coach analyzed the situation of goalkeeper Robert Sánchez, since the Spaniard has not had opportunities in the starting eleven since March, and for the first time he was left out of the squad for the game against Arsenal.

De Zerbi was clear when it came to explaining whether the Spanish international trains with the rest of the team: “He decided everything. Robert decided everything at that moment. Not me, not the club. He wanted it that way (not travel to be on the bench). We talked before the Arsenal game and decided together that the best solution was to stay at home”.

The Brighton coach, therefore, has limited himself to following the considerations of Robert Sánchez, as understood at a press conference. So it seems difficult for Robert Sánchez to return to a list of Las Gaviotas in the last four games that remain from here to the end of the Premier. The Spaniard’s contract ends in 2025 and in recent games he has been a substitute for Englishman Jason Steele. He started the last time in the historic FA Cup semifinals against Manchester United that was resolved from the penalty shootout.
