The Indian team performed brilliantly in both the limited overs series of the South Africa tour. While in T20 Team India managed to end the series with a draw, in ODI they managed to win the series 2-1. Now India has to play a two-match Test series against South Africa, with the first match being played at the Centurion Ground on Boxing Day. But before the start of this series, Team India suffered a major blow in the form of Mohammed Shami, who was ruled out due to a knee injury. In this regard, former South Africa fast bowler Fanny de Villiers said that India will definitely miss him due to Shami’s absence.
India is still a strong contender to win the series
In recent years, the Indian team in Test cricket has shown excellent performances on foreign tours, the main reason for this was the fast bowling department of the team and Mohammed Shami has also played a very important role in this. After exiting the tour, Fanny de Villiers in her statement to PTI said that the Indian team had arrived in South Africa with the best chance of winning the series. For the first time they have such fast bowlers who can bowl on the right line and not just the length. He can bowl on the off-stump in the fifth and sixth wicket lines. If you hit at least four balls on this line, you can win the test match. India has been touring South Africa for many years but few of their fast bowlers used to bowl from the right line. But now you have Bumrah and Siraj. Yes, I accept that it will make a big difference if Shami doesn’t play. But Siraj and Bumrah are bowlers who can bowl on the line while the South African bowlers bowl from leg stump to leg stump. I believe India has a very good chance of winning the series in South Africa.
Lost in 7 out of 8 series so far
The Indian team has played eight Test series in South Africa so far and suffered defeat in seven series. During the 2010-11 tour, Team India managed to level the three-match Test series 1-1. So far, Team India has won only 4 out of 23 Test matches played in Africa, otherwise they suffered defeat in 12 matches.
