The romantic comedy “De De Pyaar De 2,” starring Ajay Devgn, R. Madhavan, and Rakul Preet Singh, is struggling at the box office. The film saw another significant drop in its earnings on its sixth day of release.
On Wednesday, its sixth day, the movie collected an estimated $272,289 USD (2.26 crore Indian Rupees). This figure contributes to a declining trend observed during the weekdays.
The film opened to a decent start, earning approximately $1.02 million USD (8.5 crore Indian Rupees) on its first day. It then saw good growth and strong audience turnout over the first weekend.
However, collections sharply decreased on Monday, falling to less than half of its weekend numbers. A slight rebound was recorded on Tuesday, only for a further decline on Wednesday.
Its cumulative collection through six days of release stands at roughly $5.60 million USD (46.51 crore Indian Rupees).
This sequel has not matched the box office strength of its predecessor. The original “De De Pyaar De,” released in 2019, secured a better opening day collection.
The film continues the story of Ashok Mehra (Ajay Devgn) and Ayesha (Rakul Preet Singh). Ashok’s challenging encounter with Ayesha’s father, portrayed by R. Madhavan, forms a central part of the plot.
Critics have given the film mixed reviews. Many praised its light-hearted story and comedic elements, while some noted issues with its pacing. The on-screen chemistry between Ajay Devgn and R. Madhavan is considered a major highlight.
