David Valero reigns in the world cross country ranking

David Valero continues adding achievements to a 2022 season that, at 34 years old, has become the most successful of his career. From this Tuesday the cyclist of the BH Templo Cafés UCCthe team of another Spanish MTB legend like Carlos Coloma, appears as number one in the world in the UCI ranking of MTB Cross-country.

Valero, bronze at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, appears leader this week with 1,964 points, leading the Frenchman Titouan Carod by nine points, the Italian Luca Braidot by 25 and the world champion of the modality, the Swiss Nino Schurter, by 98. Valero’s milestone comes after the Spanish cyclist added 50 points on the 23rd after proclaiming himself champion of Spain in Cross-county on a short circuit and the 18 points added after finishing sixth in the test on Saturday 24th in the International Catalan Cup.

This leadership of the classification does nothing more than endorse the great results achieved by Valero in this year 2022, among which its first victory in the Snowshoe World Cup last July and second place in the Cross Country World Championships, only surpassed by Nino Schurter. Valero’s regularity also stands out for the 7 Top-10 achieved by the man from Granada in the different World Cup events, since in addition to his victory in Snowshoe he has added a second place in the Vlalnord test and a third place in Mont-Sainte-Anne, as well as a fifth and three sixth places. Spanish cycling is back at the top thanks to David Valero.
