David Ketchum’s journey into acting wasn’t always a straight path. He was born in Quincy, USA, on February 4, 1928. Young David initially had big plans to become an electrical engineer. But somewhere along his studies, the bright lights of comedy and acting pulled him in.
He first appeared on screen in shows like ‘I Am Dickens’ and ‘He’s Fenster.’ Yet, it was his recurring role as Agent 13 in ‘Get Smart’ that truly made him a household name. His character’s knack for being stuck in the most unusual places always brought laughs.
Ketchum kept busy in films well into 1979. He showcased his talents in movies like ‘Love at First Bite.’ He also charmed audiences in Barbara Streisand’s sports comedy, ‘The Main Event,’ and ‘The North Avenue Irregulars.’ Other notable film credits include ‘Young Doctors in Love’ and ‘The Other Sister.’ Beyond acting, he even released a comedy album called ‘Long-Playing Tongue of Dave Ketchum.’
