The champions aren’t slowing down. Sporting CP, the reigning Portuguese volleyball kings, just made a big move for the 2025/26 season. They’ve signed Mads Kyed Jensen, a powerful Danish international who plays the opposite position. He joins the Lisbon club after playing in Italy for Verona Volley.
Jensen, who stands at an impressive 2.09 meters, shared his excitement with the Sporting website. He said he’s “very enthusiastic” to put on the green and white jersey. His decision came after important talks with Coach João Coelho and a future teammate, Jonas Aguenier.
It turns out Aguenier, a French player, also arrived in Lisbon from Verona. Jensen spoke a lot with him about making the switch. Aguenier provided “excellent references” about the team and how they operate. “It was very important for me to know all these things,” Jensen explained. This inside scoop helped seal the deal for the Danish star.
Looking ahead, Jensen is particularly eager for his debut in the Champions League. He believes the Lisbon squad could truly surprise people in Europe’s top club competition. He sees a chance for them to make a strong impact on the international stage.
Jensen brings a lot of experience with him. Before his time in Italy with Verona and Cúneo, he played university volleyball in the United States. Now, he’s ready for this new global adventure, bringing his skills to a different league and aiming for more success.
