Dani Sordo fights for the podium

The tough Acropolis Rally has started and has already begun to claim its first victims. The most notable, Elfyn Evans, second classified in the World Cup, who has fallen off the hook after suffering exchange problems. The other side of the coin is his teammate Kalle Rovanpera, who has taken the lead after the third leg, while Dani Sordo is fourth and fight for the podium.

After the superspecial that opened the test in Athens, the pilots headed for Lamia on dry sections, typical of the Acropolis. The Toyota opted for mounting five hard tires, while at Hyundai they preferred to secure and load their i20s with six wheels, all hard for Sordo and Ott Tanak, while Thierry Neuville mixed with two soft ones.

Possibly that prudent decision has conditioned its start, since both Sordo and Neuville complained that the car was moving a lot, something logical to carry more weight than its rivals. Meanwhile, Tanak suffered as his engine stalled often, although he managed to finish second at intermediate after the young Rovanpera, who has climbed to the lead. Sebastien Ogier has defended himself tooth and nail by opening the track, although the cleaning factor does not seem to be affecting as much as expected. Sordo has slightly taken off the hook from him when he was penalized with 10 seconds.

The cross was for Evans, who has dropped out of the fight by suffering exchange problems. He has penalized, he has lost a lot of time, and the worst thing is that at this stage there is no intermediate assistance, so you can give up the rally.
