According to the report, the explosive material was planted in a taxi. The explosion broke the windows of shops and caught fire in several vehicles.
According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a UK-based opposition war monitor, one woman was killed in the blast, while three children were also injured.
Officials say that investigation into the incident is ongoing.
It should be noted that this is the second explosion in Sayeda Zainab area before Ashura Day. On Tuesday, Syrian state media quoted a police official as saying that two civilians were injured when an explosive device planted near a motorcycle exploded.
