Damascus: An explosion near the shrine of Hazrat Zainab, 6 people were killed

Six people were killed in an explosion near the shrine of Hazrat Sayyida Zainab in the capital of Syria, Damascus, a day before Ashura.

According to foreign media, 6 people were killed and 26 injured in an explosion near the shrine of Hazrat Sayyidah Zainab, the great-granddaughter of the Prophet ﷺ, in the suburbs of Damascus, the capital of Syria.

According to the report, the explosive material was planted in a taxi. The explosion broke the windows of shops and caught fire in several vehicles.

According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a UK-based opposition war monitor, one woman was killed in the blast, while three children were also injured.

Officials say that investigation into the incident is ongoing.

It should be noted that this is the second explosion in Sayeda Zainab area before Ashura Day. On Tuesday, Syrian state media quoted a police official as saying that two civilians were injured when an explosive device planted near a motorcycle exploded.
