Cypriot club Pafos finds itself in a true football fairy tale. They recently kicked off their Champions League journey with a solid goalless draw away against Olympiacos. That result certainly boosted their spirits. However, a monumental challenge now looms large: a home match against the mighty Bayern Munich.
Bayern has been an unstoppable force this season. They have won every single one of their eight matches so far. Yet, this incredible Bayern record doesn’t faze the Cypriots. “Playing this huge game is a dream come true for us,” declared coach Juan Carlos Carcedo ahead of the clash. The Spanish coach promised his team would “try to represent the club, the country, and Cypriot football in the best possible way.” He openly admitted it would be “a tough challenge” for his squad.
For Pafos, former Benfica star David Luiz has recovered from injury. He is expected to start for the Cypriot side. Other Portuguese players like João Correia, Pêpê Rodrigues, and Domingos Quina are also likely to be in the starting lineup. Over on the Bayern side, Raphaël Guerreiro is set to return to Vincent Kompany’s starting eleven. However, all eyes will undoubtedly be on Harry Kane. The prolific striker has already netted an astonishing 15 goals in just eight games for the German giants this season. It’s truly a test of wills, skill, and dreams when these two teams meet.
