Good news for fans of Night City’s darker side. After a lot of buzz, CD Projekt RED and Studio Trigger officially announced “Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2.” The news hit yesterday, and we already have a quick teaser trailer to chew on.
The short video confirms a big detail right away. This new season will tell a fresh story with a whole new group of characters. The teaser only showed shadowy figures, so we’ll have to wait for more trailers to see their faces. But it’s clear the universe is expanding.
“Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2” will be a standalone animated series. It plans to tell a complete story over ten episodes. The show is set in the same gritty world as the “Cyberpunk 2077” video game. This means more action and drama from that familiar, neon-soaked future.
The creative team behind this project is top-notch. Kai Ikarashi, who worked on the first “Cyberpunk: Edgerunners” and “SSSS.Gridman,” is directing. Kanno Ichigo, known for “Promare” and the first “Edgerunners,” is leading character design. Masahiko Otsuka from “Gurren Lagann” and “Promare,” joins Bartosz Sztybor as showrunners, writers, and producers. That’s a strong lineup.
Just like the first season, you’ll be able to watch “Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2” on Netflix. As of now, there’s no firm release date. But with a teaser already out, more details should drop soon.
