The General Directorate of Customs (DGA) retrieved the air cargo operations and express shipments type “couriers” at the Cibao International Airport, whose activities had been paralyzed for three years.
Customs resumes receiving and shipping air cargo from said terminal, due to the demand for these services in the cities of Cibao with the rise of electronic commerce or “e-commerce”.
It is expected to reduce customs clearance time by air for Cibao, and to reduce the costs associated with transportation, payment of tolls, fuel, per diem, and others involved in transferring a cargo that came through the International Airport of the Americas to the provinces of the northern region.
This will have a direct impact on the consumers with electronic consumption patterns in cities such as: Santiago, Puerto Plata, Montecristi, Moca, La Vega, Mao, Duarte, Espaillat, Santiago Rodríguez, Río San Juan, Dajabón, María Trinidad Sánchez and Bonao.
will lower costThe operations will also serve as a stimulus for companies in the Cibao, from Free Trade Zones as well as industrial ones, to export their products from the terminal closest to their facilities, which should translate into a reduction in time and costs, says the DGA.
