Curtis Hollis and Luismal Ferreiras give victory to the Indians over Mariners, who drop to 0-9

Curtis Hollis and Luismal Ferreiras led the Indios de San Francisco de Macorís to an 84-71 victory over the Puerto Plata Mariners, in the match held at the Fabio Rafael González sports center corresponding to the LNB Super League.

Hollis scored 22 points, grabbed 7 rebounds, had 4 assists and 5 steals, while Ferreiras had a double-double of 16 points and 13 rebounds. Yeikson Montero and JD Miller also had 14 points apiece for the Indians, who are now 5-4.

For the Mariners, whose record is now 0-9, Rakeen Christmas scored 19 points and Luis Feliz added 14 with 4 rebounds and 5 assists.

The first quarter was won 19-18 by the Indians and in the second with 20 seconds left Michael Moore scored a triple that gave the Francomacorisans a 4-point lead (40-36), in what was the biggest difference in the first 20 minutes. That’s how the first half was.

Ferreiras scored 11 points and grabbed 8 rebounds to lead the Indians at halftime, who also had 8 points from both Montero and Miller. Christmas hit 10 and a Happy 8 to stick up for the Mariners.

The Indians’ lead increased to 12 (58-46) with 3:14 of the third period, after a 3-pointer by Hollis and a dunk by Moore. The score was 65-55 after 30 minutes of action.

Those from San Francisco de Macorís did not give up in the last quarter and with a triple by Montero they increased their dominance to 16 (78-62) with 3:36 to play. The rest of the way there was no threat from the Mariners.

The sets concluded 19-18, 21-18, 25-19 and 19-16 for the Indians.
